On Sunday 17th of May marked the end of the mobility of youth workers carried out in the international project Learning by teaching non-formal education implemented by the CREDE Association – Centre of Resources for Education, Development and Excellence, established in Alba Iulia, in partnership with organizations from five promoter countries (Bulgaria – Orendi Foundation, Croatia – Kreativnoe-edukativna Udruga Putujuci Zmaj, Italy – L’Isola che non c’è Lithuania – Agluonenu jaunimo studija, Spain – OportunidadEuropa).
The project, funded by the European Commission Erasmus +, K1 key action is implemented from February 1st to July 1st, 2015. Under the mobility of youth workers held from 7th to 17th of May this year, took part in a number of 24 participants . During the training, they gained new knowledge about the characteristics of non-formal education, formal and informal learning styles, understanding how non-formal methods facilitate learning.
At the same time, they have developed the skills to work in teams, to make a debriefing and use socio-educational animation as a component of non-formal education methods.
Furthermore, youth workers developed new methods of non-formal education, which were implemented with the children of the Social Center «St. Macrina» the children of the St. Stelian Association, both located in Bucharest. At the same time, they realized that people came in contact with the need for active involvement in improving the lives of young people from the institutionalized system using non-formal education methods.
Together, they developed a booklet in which the experiences of the participants are contained, along with non-formal education methods created.
Moreover, project participants developed their interaction with children through the two centers / associations, attitudes of understanding and compassion for young people with fewer opportunities, improving their empathic and inclusive spirit, and willingness to get involved in improving their lives. At the same time, they have contributed to the personal development of young people through activities,
The program of activities scheduled for the period May 7th to 17th included both training and active learning sessions and practical sessions. At the end of the 10 days, they -unanimously- received a Youthpass certificate which describes and validates the non-formal and informal learning experience acquired during the project.
Erasmus + program, through which this project is funded, is the EU program for education, training, youth and sport, implemented in 2014-2020. It aims to stimulate skills development and employability and support of the modernization of youth education and training .
